Lisandro Martinez was called up to the Argentina squad for their October World Cup qualifiers.
The centre-back wasn’t the only Manchester United player called up to the Argentina squad, however, Alejandro Garnacho had to withdraw due to a knee injury.
Lionel Scaloni’s squad take on Venezuela and Bolivia in two qualifying matches, and United fans will be hopeful that Martinez doesn’t sustain any injury setbacks.
Ahead of the match against Venezuela, Martinez has uploaded pictures of him linking up with his Argentina teammates, including Lionel Messi.
Martinez is pictured hugging the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner, as seen below via Instagram:

Martinez has not been at his best this season, but the same can be said for most of United’s players.
The centre-back was overlooked for the scoreless draw against Aston Villa as Erik ten Hag started the game with Jonny Evans and Harry Maguire in the heart of defence.
Martinez was a huge loss last season when he missed most of the campaign due to injuries.
The sooner he starts showing the form we expect of him the better.
