Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk swapped jerseys with Real Madrid icon Roberto Carlos in the aftermath of his side’s victory over Los Blancos.

As much was confirmed by way of a photo to have gone viral across social media following the full-time whistle in Tuesday’s clash:

Van Dijk for his part played a leading role in Liverpool putting Real Madrid to the sword yesterday evening.

From his berth at the heart of defence, the Dutchman controlled proceedings throughout the 90 minutes, proving key in keeping Kylian Mbappé uncharacteristically quiet.

Van Dijk also came close to finding the net, only to be kept out by a Thibaut Courtois in inspired form.

When all was said and done, though, the Premier League champions nevertheless got the job done, thanking an Alexis Mac Allister header on the hour mark for a 1-0 triumph.

This came as just Real Madrid’s 2nd defeat of the campaign to date.
