Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee watched his former club, Bologna, on their 2024-25 Champions League debut against Shakhtar Donetsk.
The Dutch striker contributed to Bologna’s first Champions League qualification in over 60 years last season before a permanent transfer to Manchester United.
The 23-year-old still has a solid bond with Bologna and their fans and watched their Champions League debut on TV on Wednesday.
Zirkzee posted a picture of the game on TV and sent an encouraging message to his former club: ‘Come on Bologna!’
The Netherlands international has scored one goal in five appearances with Manchester United this season.
Last term, he scored 11 goals and provided five assists in 34 Serie A matches with the Rossoblu.
Bologna eventually drew 0-0 against Shakhtar on Wednesday, seeing their goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski save a penalty kick in the first half.
