Newcastle United stars Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton should be in Seoul today.
However, a broken window forced their plane mid-flight to return to Amsterdam.
Brazil are playing two friendlies during this October international fortnight.
Against South Korea in Seoul on Friday 10 October, with a 12pm kick-off (UK time).
Then in Tokyo against Japan on Tuesday 14 October, with an 11.30am kick-off (UK time).
Brazilian media report that the other 21 members of the Brazil squad are already in Seoul and will be training today. Amongst those set to train are John Victor and Igor Jesus who were in the Forest squad at St James’ Park on Sunday.
They also state that now the two Newcastle United players are set to be on different flights, with the Brazil FA organising one for Bruno that will get him there quicker. No reason given as to why this is the plan, rather than the pair travelling together still.
‘A broken window on the plane forced the two players to return to Amsterdam midway through their flight on Tuesday. The pair traveled 12 hours to and from the Netherlands, and they are expected to be transferred to different flights on their mission to reach South Korea later on Wednesday. The national team is scheduled to train at Goyang Stadium in the afternoon, at 4 p.m. (local time).
Joelinton is expected to take the same flight from the Dutch capital and won’t arrive in Seoul in time for the activity. The CBF is still organizing logistics for Bruno Guimarães, who will have a connection in another European country so he can report earlier.
The duo took the field last Sunday in Newcastle’s 2-0 home win over Nottingham Forest, with a stunning goal from BG. Interestingly, Igor Jesus and John, who played in the same match, are already in Seoul and participated in Tuesday’s training session, which was attended by 21 players.’
For selfish Newcastle United reasons, I’d rather Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes were delayed on their way to these Brazil friendlies, rather than on the way back.
The United pair face a long journey back after next week’s game in Tokyo and of course the Newcastle match that follows is 3pm on Saturday 18 October at Brighton, rather than one moved back later on the weekend for TV purposes.
