After the 2-2 draw with Vasco at the Maracanã, Flamengo reconvened on Monday morning at Ninho do Urubu. Plata trained as normal and is not expected to be an issue for Thursday’s Libertadores match in Colombia.
In stoppage time of the draw, he felt the back of his right thigh and went down. He stayed on, as no changes were left. According to Globo.com, it was only cramp.
Even so, coach Leonardo Jardim still has two absentees. Pulgar and Paquetá have not returned to group training and are practically out of the fourth round of the group stage.
The Chilean has a better chance of making Sunday’s game with Grêmio, but that depends on his progress. He injured the acromioclavicular joint in his right shoulder and still has pain. He has not yet completed a full session, though he is expected back this week.
Flamengo’s medical staff plan to raise Paquetá’s workload this week to reintegrate him. He sustained an oedema in the tendon of his left thigh against Bahia.
Neither will be cleared until they are 100%. Both are in the final stage of recovery. With a combined trip planned, the staff may take one, but the squad list will be set on Tuesday.
Flamengo train on Tuesday morning and travel in the afternoon to Colombia. On Wednesday they finish preparations at Atlético Nacional’s training centre. After playing Independiente Medellín, they fly overnight to Porto Alegre, train at Internacional on Friday and Saturday, then play on Sunday.
