Bayern Munich closed the first half of their season with an emphatic 5–1 crushing of RB Leipzig. After a frantic opening to the game which saw Bayern and Leipzig both score in the first two minutes, Vincent Kompany’s team calmly took control of the proceedings and turned the match into a one-sided affair.
With goals from Jamal Musiala, Konrad Laimer, Joshua Kimmich, Leroy Sané, and Alphonso Davies, Bayern eased past RB Lepizg who were all over the place and looked completely overwhelmed by Die Roten’s intensity.
Bayern Munich go into the winter break as Herbstmeister, having 36 points and a lead of at least 4 points from the second place. RB Leipzig meanwhile, remain in fourth place with a points total of 27.
Let’s take a look at the player ratings from the victorious home team.
Daniel Peretz - 7/10
Bayern’s solid backline and Leipzig's lacklustre attack kept Peretz from making a save in the entire game, but his ball distribution looked much improved from previous games.
Alphonso Davies - 9/10
Bayern’s man of the match of the night was back to his best after being sidelined for a couple of weeks due to a hamstring injury. The Canadian looked unflappable under Leipzig’s pressure and always found a way to move the ball forward. He set up Sané’s goal after an amazing run and bagged one himself late in the game.
Kim Min-jae - 8/10
Got spun around too easily by Openda which led to Leipzig’s only goal. Grew into the game and gave a commanding defensive performance for the rest of the night.
Dayot Upamecano - 8/10
Could have tracked Sesko’s run better to prevent the early equalizer. Stamped his presence at the back by winning almost every duel and was also a constant threat during corners and set-pieces.
