Santos lost 2-1 to Athletico Paranaense at Arena da Baixada, despite creating enough after the break to finish the contest. Thaciano stood out with a goal, but defensive mistakes proved costly.

Early, Zé Ivaldo conceded another needless penalty. In stoppage time, after João Basso came on to form a back three, the winner arrived from his side, and he had recently lost an aerial duel with Calleri in the draw with São Paulo. According to Diario Do Peixe, Juan Pablo Vojvoda was bold with his selection and changes, with Santos combative and deserving better, and the board must sign at least two centre-backs to avoid Série B.

Gabriel Brazão made good saves and was blameless for both goals. Luan Peres was the pick of the back four. Igor Vinícius almost scored from range but struggled, while Vinícius Lira had perhaps his best display yet still fell short.

Gabriel Menino impressed more without the ball, combining well with João Schmidt and Gabriel Bontempo, who linked counters and should keep his place. Miguelito showed promise with dribbles and passes, though his long-range shooting needs work.

On debut, Moisés nearly scored and added thrust, his signing looks as though it will help. Rony could not match his weekend display against his former club. Rollheiser and Lautaro Díaz had little time, and Barreal made little impact.
