From Lakatos to Íñigo Martínez, a long line have worn both Barcelona and Athletic Club colours. As reported by as.com, the crossover stretches from 1917 to 2023.
José Landazabal, known as Lakatos, had two spells at each club. He scored in Barça's 1919 Copa final defeat to Arenas de Getxo, 2-5, and was not used when Barcelona beat Athletic in 1920.
Félix Sesúmaga played for Barcelona from 1919 to 1922, winning the 1920 Copa, 0-2 against Athletic, and the 1922 title, appearing only in the first final, then joined Athletic to 1925 and won the 1923 Copa at Les Corts, 1-0 over Europa. Manuel Vidal, Luis Zabala and Caracas-born Gerardo Bilbao also featured for both sides, the latter appearing in Barcelona's wartime Catalan competitions in 1937-38.
Emilio Aldecoa, Jaime Escudero and Jesús Garay made the switch in the 1940s and 1950s. Beitia and Zabalza followed, with Zabalza leaving Barcelona in 1974 to join Athletic through to 1976.
Alexanko moved from Athletic to Barcelona in 1980 and stayed until 1993. Andoni Zubizarreta, Julio Salinas, Ernesto Valverde and Jon Andoni Goikoetxea all represented both clubs across the 1980s and 1990s.
Eskurza came through Athletic to 1994 before a single Barcelona season in 1994-95, and José Mari played for Barcelona in 1994-95 before joining Athletic in 1996. Ezquerro switched from Athletic in 2005 for three seasons at Barcelona, and Íñigo Martínez left Athletic in 2023 to sign for Barcelona.
