Northumbria Police have released images on 20 May of seven men they want to trace, as part of an investigation into disorder after the Newcastle United v Sunderland Tyne-Wear derby at St James’ Park on Sunday, March 22.
The force said officers were alerted to pockets of disorder involving both sets of supporters in the city centre after the game. It said videos circulating on social media appeared to show aggressive behaviour, objects thrown in crowded areas and damage to property, and added there was a proportionate policing response on the day, with three arrests, and that the event passed largely without incident.
Officers believe those pictured were in the area at the time and may have information that could assist ongoing enquiries.
The men shown, or anyone who recognises them, is asked to contact Northumbria Police via direct message on social media or through live chat and report forms on the force website.
Alternatively, call 101 quoting crime reference NP-20260322-0216. Sunderland won 2-1.
