Pedro Porro paid tribute to the Spain supporters after helping his side reach the World Cup final by beating France.
The Spurs full-back scored his side’s second goal in their 2-0 semi-final win in Dallas.
“We know that the whole of Spain is really excited,” Porro said after the game,
“We knew this match was a very important one for us and, to be honest, we’d like to dedicate this victory to all those back in Spain who have surely been cheering us on.”
“My job is to give my all for Spain, for the team, but I think today it wasn’t down to my goal, it was down to the work done by all 26 of us, because everyone is so important, those at home and those here, our families, I think that everyone’s drive has been important, and now we need to focus on the final.”
Spain will now face either Argentina or England in the World Cup final, who face off on Wednesday.
“Obviously, at this point of the World Cup, every team is among the best in the world,” Porro said. “Tomorrow’s semi-final is sure to be a great match, and well, I wish both teams the best of luck.
“We’re now, honestly, focusing on recovering, and whoever we face next, they’re both strong teams. As I’ve said, I wish them the best of luck, and we’ll see you in the final.”
