Vincenzo Italiano had the following to say after today’s game: “A step backwards. We wanted to keep the momentum going and add to our points tally. It’s a shame because we’d done the hardest thing, which was breaking the deadlock in a difficult match, but then we weren’t able to hold on to it. The first goal could have been avoided, and for the second we should have committed a foul to stop that counter-attack. We thought it would go differently, but now our thoughts immediately turn to Thursday.”

Jonathan Rowe also spoke after the match: “We always try to perform at our best and get the best possible result when we take to the pitch, but today we conceded two goals in quick succession that put us in a difficult situation. We struggled too much with their transitions. Now, it’s important to put this result behind us and focus on Thursday’s Europa League match. I’m pleased to have scored my first Serie A goal, but I know I can do better and so can we as a team. Personally, I always try to give my all. I feel part of the team, and I’m adapting to the way the game is played in Serie A.”
