It’s time for an update to the Power Rankings table, as Manchester City charge back in and Inter Milan move up near the summit.

📈 Power Rankings: Impregnable Arsenal on the up

10. RB Leipzig (No change)

RB Leipzig saw their winning run halted at Hoffenheim, a surprise setback given recent form. Leipzig led through Yan Diomande, but their youthful side collapsed after an early opener. That said, eight wins from their previous 10 games is an impressive return for a team brimming with potential.

9. Aston Villa 🆕

Aston Villa join the Power Rankings table after an excellent week for Unai Emery. A rotated team comfortably dispatched of Maccabi Tel-Aviv in the Europa League, before a superb showing saw high-flying Bournemouth beaten in the Premier League.

An emphatic 4-0 win over the Cherries made it eight wins from their last 10 for Villa, who have climbed into the Premier League’s top six after a tricky start.

8. Atletico Madrid ⬆️ (last week: 9)

Atletico Madrid remain unbeaten in La Liga since the opening weekend, after beating Levante 3-1 at the weekend. Antoine Griezmann scored twice in the win, which moves Diego Simeone’s side within six points of the top. Their title dream is back on.

7. Barcelona ⬆️ (last week: 8)

Another side who capitalised on a slip from leaders Real Madrid in La Liga. Barcelona brought themselves with three points of the table toppers, after an enthralling win at Celta Vigo.

A see-sawing first half saw the Catalans twice pegged back after leading, only for Lamine Yamal to put them back in front on the stroke of half-time. Robert Lewandowski’s hat-trick goal made the result safe, despite Frenkie de Jong’s late red card.

Manchester City are back in the Power Rankings mix after a huge week for Pep Guardiola. After watching his side dismantle Dortmund in the Champions League, Guardiola celebrated his 1000th match in management with a 3-0 win over Liverpool.

The champions were ruthlessly dispatched at the Etihad, in a result made even sweeter given dropped points for leaders Arsenal. Surprisingly, few have championed City as potential winners of the Premier League this season. They might be now.

5. Real Madrid ⬇️ (last week: 3)

Real Madrid saw their lead at the top of La Liga cut after a frustrating goalless draw with Rayo Vallecano. That stalemate followed defeat in Europe to Liverpool, with back-to-back blanks for Xabi Alonso’s men.

Room for improvement on the training ground.

4. PSG (no change)

Joao Neves was the hero as Paris Saint-Germain grabbed an important win at Lyon. The midfielder’s 95th-minute winner snatched the points for the champions, who had twice seen Lyon level the game.

The 3-2 win keeps Luis Enrique’s men two points ahead at the top, though Marseille and Lens are right in the rear-view mirror.

3. Inter Milan ⬆️ (last week: 6)

Inter Milan moved to the top of Serie A at the weekend and climb significantly in our Power Rankings table. Lautaro Martinez and Ange-Yoan Bonny goals dispatched Lazio at the San Siro, a result that lifted the Nerazzurri to the summit.

Inter have won 11 of their last 12 in all competitions.

2. Arsenal (No change)

Arsenal’s water-tight defence was breached for the first time in over a month at the weekend, as Sunderland shook the league leaders.

The newly-promoted Black Cats battled to a 2-2 draw on home soil, with Brian Brobbey’s last-gasp goal rescuing a point. For Arsenal, it was a setback in their title challenge, but a four-point cushion ensures their status as Premier League favourites remains intact.

1. Bayern Munich (no change)

Union Berlin brought the Bayern juggernaut to a halt this weekend, with the capital club earning a share of the spoils in the Bundesliga.

The home side twice led, but an outstanding individual effort from Luis Diaz and a late Harry Kane (who else?) equaliser rescued the leaders a point.

A first failure to win in 17 games should not spark too much concern for the Germans.
