Coming on the back of a thrilling 3-1 victory over Real Madrid, Milan will aim to build on the momentum and grab a win against Cagliari tomorrow.
Milan went into the match against Real Madrid as the underdogs but goals from Malick Thiaw, Alvaro Morata and Tijjani Reijnders renewed their hopes of reaching the Champions League knockouts. The victory relieved some pressure from the back of manager Paulo Fonseca as a defeat could have ended his tenure as head coach. Reijnders was the sole goalscorer in the Rossoneri’s 1-0 win against Monza last week as the club went up to seventh place in the league standings. They could make it three wins in a row across all competitions for the first time this season if they manage to seal the deal at Cagliari.
Meanwhile, Cagliari arrive at this match after a narrow 2-1 defeat to Lazio. Boulaye Dia opened the scoring in the 2nd minute and Zito Luvumbo equalised minutes before the break. Mattia Zaccagni’s 76th-minute penalty stood as the difference between the two sides while chances of a comeback were nullified by two red cards to Yerry Mina and Michel Ndary Adopo. Jose Luis Palomino and Razvan Marin are set to start tomorrow due to the absentees.
Here are the predicted line-ups for the match according to Pianeta Milan:
Cagliari (4-2-3-1): Scuffet; Zappa, Palomino, Luperto, Augello; Makoumbou, Deiola; Zortea, Gaetano, Luvumbo; Piccoli.
Milan (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Emerson Royal, Thiaw, Tomori, Hernandez; Fofana, Reijnders; Chukwueze, Pulisic, Leao; Abraham.
