Milan aim to cut Inter’s lead at the Serie A summit to seven points when they meet Parma at the San Siro tonight.
Milan come into this match on the back of a frustrating 1-1 draw with Como in their last match. Nico Paz’s 32nd-minute strike opened the scoring and gave the lead to the visitors as it took the efforts of Rafael Leao in the second half to level the scoresheet. The Rossoneri piled on the pressure on Cesc Fabregas’ men later in the match, but the Como defence stood rock solid to neutralise the hosts’ attack on the night. While Milan are now on 54 points in the Serie A with a strong cushion for a Champions League spot, the draw gave a significant breathing space to their neighbourhood rivals Inter, who currently sit at the top with 64 points.
Massimiliano Allegri will have to sit this one out as he was suspended for protesting against an alleged shirt pull on Alexis Saelemaekers by Fabregas in the Como game. Strahinja Pavlovic will miss the match after being forced off the pitch, but he did manage to avoid a major injury. Leao and Niclas Fullkrug are set to pair upfront.
Parma will be in an upbeat mood to face Milan after securing back-to-back victories against Bologna and Verona. The Ducali managed to hold tonight’s opponents to a 2-2 draw earlier in the season, and that result will give them some backing to at least come away with a point from the clash. Carlos Cuesta’s men are sitting in 13th place with 29 points across the board, as they pulled themselves clear by eight points from the relegation zone.
Here are the predicted line-ups for the match according to La Repubblica:
Milan (3-5-2): Maignan; Tomori, Gabbia, De Winter; Saelemaekers, Fofana, Modric, Rabiot, Bartesaghi; Leao, Fullkrug.
Parma (3-5-2): Corvi; Delprato, Troilo, Valenti; Britschgi, Bernabé, Keita, Nicolussi Caviglia, Valeri; Strefezza, Pellegrino.
