Numerous clubs have begun sizing up a late swoop for Kobbie Mainoo amid reports the player is angling for a late move away from Manchester United.
The likes of Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid have all considered submitting offers for Mainoo, with the two Spanish outfits keen to acquire his services on a season-long loan.
Yesterday, after trusted outlet The Athletic verified that the 20-year-old could indeed depart before Monday’s transfer deadline, Newcastle United also made an approach to gauge the feasibility of a deal, as per journalist Jason Soutar.

Each side to have established their interest in Mainoo would allow him the chance to play Champions League football in the coming months. At Old Trafford, the only competitions he’ll be involved in are the Premier League and the FA Cup following last night’s abysmal Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town.
That being said, the midfielder has yet to feature in the league since 2025/2026 got underway – not even for a single minute.
Ruben Amorim has utilised the other options at his disposal over Mainoo against both Arsenal and Fulham, but did call upon the youngster to feature from the off at Blundell Park.
With the United faithful now speculating whether Amorim would have it in him to walk away from his position in the aftermath of his dejected post-match interviews, you have to wonder whether Mainoo would be as well sticking around and seeing how the situation pans out.
He is tied to United until 2027 as things stand, with the club holding the option of extending his stay by an additional 12 months. Mainoo has only ever represented the Reds in his career, having worked his way through the academy ranks to the first-team.
