Marc Guehi is all set to leave Crystal Palace next year, and a number of top clubs across Europe, including FC Barcelona, are interested.

The 25-year-old centre-back’s contract with the Premier League club expires at the end of the season, and he has confirmed that he will not sign an extension, meaning he will be available for free in the summer.

January exit a possibility?

However, now, it has emerged that Crystal Palace are not ruling out the sale of their captain in the winter transfer window in order to avoid losing him for free.

It must be noted that Guehi came close to leaving the Eagles for Liverpool in the summer, but the deal was cancelled in the last minute.

But now, manager Oliver Glasner has left the door open for a January departure for his key defender.

“I don’t know, it will be the club’s decision. Marc shows every week that he is 100% committed to Crystal Palace. There’s no need to think about it,” said Glasner.

“We have 15 games until January 10th, and he shouldn’t be thinking about a possible sale. Of course, we are prepared for anything, but I don’t know what will happen,” he added.

Guehi, now available for the match after overcoming the discomfort that forced him to leave the England camp, has established himself as one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League.

As mentioned earlier, he was close to joining Liverpool on the final day of the last transfer window for £35 million, only for Palace to pull the plug on the deal in the nth minute.

With his contract ending on 30 June, Guehi will be free to negotiate with clubs outside the Premier League from 1 January. But Crystal Palace may now try to obtain a fee for him in the winter window.
