Sport Bild is once again reporting that Werder Bremen fullback/wingback Felix Agu is attracting Premier League interest. This despite the fact the German tabloid has already revealed that Agu’s desire to remain in the Bundesliga led the player to recently allow two separate release clauses to expire.
Previously linked with West ham United and Fulham, the newly-capped Nigerian international has apparently also received offers from unnamed clubs in Italy as well as Germany. Sport Bild claims that Agu himself is amenable to a switch should the proper opportunity arise.
Should other clubs with to lure the 25-year-old away from the Hanseaten, matters can get quite pricey. The expired release clause was said to total some €10m. Bremen will seek at least that amount for one of their better performers from last season.
Bremen licensing head Peter Niemeyer is quoted in the Sport Bild piece as confirming that other clubs have been in touch. The German club personnel executive actually quashed all Werder exit rumors in general.
“There are always inquiries,” Niemeyer is quoted as saying, “but so far there has been nothing that we have pursued further.”
