Real Madrid’s pursuit of Yan Diomande has gathered serious momentum, with the Spanish giants now standing alone in the race for one of Europe’s most exciting young wingers.

After weeks of interest from several top clubs, the transfer picture has shifted dramatically, giving Los Blancos a clear path to complete a marquee signing before the new season begins.

The latest developments suggest Real Madrid are making steady progress in negotiations with RB Leipzig, while interest from Premier League rivals has cooled significantly.

Real Madrid emerge as clear favourites

According to Fabrizio Romano, both Manchester City and Arsenal made enquiries about Yan Diomande’s situation earlier in the transfer window but have since gone quiet, leaving Real Madrid as the only club actively pushing to complete the deal.

The journalist adds that the 19-year-old has only kept the door open for a move to the Santiago Bernabeu after agreeing personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer.

Although PSG looked well placed to secure his signature, that move ultimately fell through, reopening the race for one of Europe’s most highly rated attacking talents.

Real Madrid took advantage of the situation and are now engaged in direct negotiations with RB Leipzig after reaching an agreement with the player over personal terms.

The Spanish club’s initial proposal, worth €100 million (€90 million plus €10 million in performance-related add-ons), was rejected by the Bundesliga side, who valued the youngster more highly.

Negotiations progressing as Real Madrid improve offer

With Real Madrid prioritising the signing of a new right winger and facing complications in their pursuit of Michael Olise, the club has intensified its efforts to land Diomande instead.

Negotiations have accelerated in recent days, although discussions between the two clubs have been ongoing for more than a week.

Representatives from Real Madrid travelled to Germany for face-to-face talks with RB Leipzig after securing the player’s commitment to the project.

There is now increasing confidence that both clubs will reach an agreement, with the final transfer fee expected to fall between €115 million and €120 million.

The progress in talks has strengthened optimism within Real Madrid that one of their biggest transfer targets could soon arrive at the Santiago Bernabeu.
