The future of Ibrahima Konate has been a major talking point even as the transfer market comes to a close.
The Frenchman’s days at Liverpool could be numbered as his contract expires at the end of the season, with the player refusing to entertain any of Liverpool’s contract offers.
Konate was linked with a summer move to Real Madrid, but Liverpool’s hefty price tag meant the Spanish giants were more than willing to wait and sign him for free next summer.
A recent report from The Times has offered an update on the future of Konate, suggesting that Liverpool are indeed keen on keeping hold of the player.
However, the Premier League champions won’t beg and request the Frenchman to stay at the club. If he wants to leave, he can leave Anfield.
This comes shortly after Konate quipping about Kylian Mbappe calling him every two hours in light of Real Madrid’s interest.

The report adds that Real Madrid are the likely suitor for the French international as he looks to take the next step in his career.
The Spanish giants are likely to sign him on a free transfer as well, as Xabi Alonso looks at cost-effective option in his bid to add more reinforcements at the back.
However, recent reports also suggest that Los Blancos could be open to signing Konate in the January transfer window, but under a strict limit.
The club are not willing to pay more than €15 million for Konate’s services in January.
It must be noted that the Reds won’t go back for Marc Guehi in January, which could potentially impact their decision on whether or not they should sell Konate in the middle of the season.
