Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Tottenham Hotspur are all weighing up approaches for Brentford striker Igor Thiago.
The Brazilian has scored 11 goals in just 14 Premier League appearances this season, with only Erling Haaland having outscored Thiago in the top flight this term.
After his debut season in England was ravaged by an ACL injury, the forward has found his form in West London this time around. Brentford are set to find themselves in a familiar situation, as Premier League rivals circle for their top talent.
After losing last season’s leading scorers, Bryan Mbeumo (Manchester United) and Yoane Wissa (Newcastle) for big fees in the summer, the Bees are braced for offers for Thiago.
According to Caught Offside, Spurs, Newcastle and Villa are all eyeing the 24-year-old. Each are keen to add to their frontlines to strengthen their challenges for Champions League qualification.
Brentford are in a strong negotiating position, with the striker signed on a contract until 2029.
Thiago may also opt against a mid-season move, as he looks to break into the Brazil side for next summer’s World Cup. Though uncapped for the national team at any level, he is the leading Brazilian scorer across Europe’s top-five leagues this season.
“I think Thiago just needs to keep doing what he is doing. Consistently, do it well, and the goals will come,” Brentford boss Keith Andrews said.
“I have just been told that he is the top-scoring Brazilian in all of the major divisions. It is pretty impressive really, isn’t it?
“So, I think if he maintains that, I know it is a big dream of his and one that we are supporting him with, obviously.
“Hopefully, that will happen for him. From my relationship with Thiago, his aspirations are to play for Brazil.”
