Bounced back superbly from his midweek mistakes. Sanchez was in top form as Chelsea beat Brentford in a West London derby, making two outstanding saves. First, he prevented what looked like a certain own goal, before denying Kevin Schade one-on-one.
Watching Nordi Mukiele this season, it makes you wonder why more Premier League clubs didn’t chase a deal for the defender.
Sunderland’s £9.5m fee has been a bargain, with Mukiele excelling again against Crystal Palace this week. Great defensive work and an assist to top it off.
Liam Rosenior recalled Tosin to the Chelsea side, with the defender’s towering frame important to nullify Brentford’s threat.
He made 13 clearances and did not lose a single aerial duel (4/4) as Chelsea coped with Brentford’s long throws. Chelsea will hope his injury is not serious.
Can we all stop talking about Lisandro Martinez’s height, please? The Argentine has done more than enough to make it a moot point.
Against Manchester City this weekend, he was terrific, winning all of his defensive duels and making eight clearances. Manchester United are a better team with him in it.
Burnley dug in deep to leave Liverpool with a result, with Bashir Humphreys huge in their defensive performance. The defender won 100% of his aerial duels (2/2) and made two vital goal-line clearances as the Clarets withstood an Anfield siege.
Rolled back the years with a disciplined defensive midfield performance. So often in the right place at the right time against Manchester City, offering a cool head in the heat of a local derby.
All-action on his birthday and Chelsea’s standout performer against Brentford. Fernandez hassled the Bees throughout, assisted the opener, and provided plenty of classy moments.
Expect the transfer talk around Elliot Anderson to get louder.
Against the league leaders, he was arguably the best player on the pitch, topping the stats among his Nottingham Forest teammates for touches, duels won, fouls won, and passes into the final third.
He’s been one of the most complete midfielders in the league this season.
Moved into a central role for the Manchester Derby and thrived. His movement and work rate unsettled an inexperienced Manchester City centre-back partnership, while he took the opener brilliantly. That’s seven for the season for the summer signing.
Michael Carrick raised eyebrows with his selection of Patrick Dorgu for the Manchester Derby, but the 21-year-old repaid his manager’s faith.
Dorgu revelled in the freedom of a forward role, rampaging up and down the left. He got his reward with the second goal at Old Trafford.
After a tough start to life at Everton, Thierno Barry is growing in confidence. The Frenchman made it three goals in four Premier League games as the Toffees upset the odds to win at in-form Aston Villa.
Barry’s winner was a brilliant dinked finish, the sort that will do him a world of good. He was a nuisance all game for Aston Villa with clever runs and energy leading the line. David Moyes will want more of this.
