Aston Villa v Bournemouth - Midfield tussle stands out

Sunday 14:00Live on Sky Sports

Both teams saw unbeaten runs end last weekend but each loss can be accounted for given the quality of the opposition. It was, however, telling that seven of Villa's 10 attempts at Anfield came from range. Unai Emery's side have had the fourth fewest touches inside opposition boxes this season.

Morgan Rogers incidentally took on three of those efforts. The attacking midfielder is 9/5 to match that tally or better it at Villa Park.

That's assuming the Villans can get within sight of Dorde Petrovic in nets. The Cherries have faced just 4.6 shots on target per 90 in 2025/26.

A midfield duel featuring Boubacar Kamara and Alex Scott stands out in this one, the former increasing his foul-count in recent weeks while Scott is consistently savvy at winning free-kicks. His 2.4 fouls drawn per 90 this term is testimony to that.

Brentford v Newcastle - Fouls to trump goals

Sunday 14:00Live on Sky Sports Main Event

Winless on the road this term, Newcastle's numbers dwindle when away from St James' Park. Carving out just 0.6 big chances per 90 has contributed to them scoring only twice. Their shots on target tally is exactly half that attained in the North-East.

At the back they have been solid for the most part, boasting their best xGA (9.1) in six years after 10 games and conceding a measly two big chances inside the box.

Half of Brentford's fixtures this season have produced 4+ goals. Another goal-fest probably won't be forthcoming at the Gtech this Sunday. We can, however, expect a high volume of fouls. So far, the Bees have erred 11.6 times per 90, the visitors 11.7.

Joelinton is an obvious shout in this regard, the Brazilian racking up multiples in five of his last six starts. For the hosts, Kevin Schade appeals, the winger fouling every 31 minutes at home since September.

Crystal Palace v Brighton - Overdue props for Welbeck

Sunday 14:00Live on Sky Sports+

First off, BTTS at 6/10 is a great addition to any bet builder. Fourteen of the last 16 A23 derbies have seen both sides converting. Five of their last six encounters at Selhurst Park have finished 1-1.

As for individuals, Diego Gomez was outstanding for the Seagulls last time out against Leeds, scoring twice, winning nine of his 12 duels, and completing two-thirds of his dribbles. A tougher tests awaits, though, against Wharton and Lerma, both excellent in the middle for Palace this campaign.

Staying with Brighton, Danny Welbeck is overdue some love and this is the right context to provide it. While Jean-Philippe Mateta has been widely praised for his output, Welbeck has matched the Palace man goal for goal, furthermore, doing so with a far superior conversion rate.

Indeed, Mateta's 19% ties in with one of Palace's few failings this season - their 23 big chances missed is a league high.

Welbeck scored in this fixture last season and the season before.

Nottingham Forest v Leeds - Early goals and bookings

Sunday 14:00

Leeds are still to keep a clean sheet on their travels while Forest have yet to shut anyone out in the league full stop.

For all that the visitors deserve credit for facing only 10.2 shots per 90 in their opening 10 games, and for all that we expect Forest to tighten up at the back soon under Sean Dyche, these remain the pertinent facts.

Goals therefore are anticipated at the City Ground, and given Leeds' recent propensity to concede early - going behind inside 25 minutes in five of their last six - a Forest forward is well worth considering for first goalscorer.

Instead though, it's discipline that mainly grabs the attention here, with Ryan Yates averaging a hefty 2.6 fouls per 90 while his midfield counterpart Ethan Ampadu has been cautioned in three of his last five starts.

The combative Welshman was at the centre of 2.8 foul involvements per 90 in those five outings.

Man City v Liverpool - Have your fill of Phil

Sunday 16:30Live on Sky Sports Main Event

As impressive as Liverpool were when beating Real Madrid in midweek, it's still premature to declare them 'back'. Problems as fundamental as theirs don't just simply disappear over the course of 90 Champions League minutes, plus a routine win over a strangely lacklustre Aston Villa. It feels dicey to go with any individuals in red here.

That said, Mo Salah boasts 21 goal involvements from 23 meetings with City. The Egyptian King is 15/8 to score anytime at the Etihad.

City have delighted in exposing and exploiting their arch-rival twice-over in recent seasons when Liverpool have not been at their finest - putting four past them each time - so it's perhaps pertinent that Pep Guardiola's men tend to score early this term. They have converted inside 25 minutes in 60% of their fixtures.

Erling Haaland, meanwhile, has found the back of the net every 60 minutes at home to date.

It is Phil Foden though who warrants special focus, the midfielder taking on multiple shots in seven of his 11 starts in 2025/26 as he rights last season's wrongs.

Against Dortmund on Wednesday he fired four shots on target, scoring twice. He's got his eye in.
