Premier League clubs are pressing on with early summer business, while Sunderland are yet to make a first signing. According to Sunderland Echo, the Black Cats are preparing for their first ever Europa League campaign with no incomings sealed since the window opened just under three weeks ago.
It is 12 months since their top flight return followed a bold window that brought in Robin Roefs, Brian Brobbey, Habib Diarra and former Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka.
To date, Sunderland’s only confirmed moves are exits, with Dan Neil, Dennis Cirkin, Bertrand Traore and Niall Huggins all released at the end of their deals.
Elsewhere, Tottenham have been active, landing Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke for £52m, plus Martin Dúbravka. Yves Bissouma has departed.
Brighton have moved on Jeremy Sarmiento, while Solly March, Adam Webster and Joel Veltman were released and James Milner retired.
Liverpool have signed Jérémy Jacquet for £55m and Víctor Muñoz for £35m. Mohamed Salah and Rhys Williams were released, and Ibrahima Konaté left on a free.
Arsenal have made Piero Hincapié’s loan permanent and moved out Jakub Kiwior and Karl Hein. Newcastle sold Anthony Gordon to Barcelona and brought in Ewen Jaouen.
Other business includes Everton’s capture of Merlin Röhl, Bournemouth outgoings for Hamed Traoré and Luis Sinisterra, and no activity reported by Crystal Palace.
