Jakub Kiwior’s loan spell at FC Porto is already being described in Portugal as a success, with local outlet A Bola praising his growing influence and all-round performances.

The paper reports that the 25-year-old, who joined Porto from Arsenal on a season-long loan worth €2 million, “gave the first great sample of what he can add at an offensive level” in their recent 2-1 win over Moreirense.

Kiwior, already established as a starter alongside compatriot Jan Bednarek, stood out not only for his defensive control but also for his passing. He completed 96 of 107 passes, the highest total on the pitch, and no player managed more accurate balls into the final third – 17 out of 24, a success rate of 71 percent.

He also played a decisive role in Deniz Gul’s winning goal, heading on a late corner (set piece again ole ole) for the striker to convert.

A Bola noted that his performance showed “boldness with the ball at his feet” and a new level of confidence in advancing play from the back.

Manager Francesco Farioli also used Kiwior at left-back in the closing stages, a role he has played before for both Arsenal and Poland. “He can perfectly cover that position,” Farioli said. “What we expect from the defenders is quality and physicality.”

The report concluded that Kiwior’s defensive numbers were equally strong, winning four of five duels and maintaining his composure under pressure.

With Porto’s system encouraging defenders to build from the back, the Polish international appears to be thriving, and the Portuguese press see little doubt that the club’s investment will prove justified.

Porto are expected to make the move permanent next summer for a further €17 million, with €5 million in potential add-ons.
