The rumours about Barcelona interest in Joao Pedro are only growing, with bigger sources joining in every week.
The claims are that Julian Alvarez, the Blaugrana’s top candidate, is proving hard to land, making a €70m bid for Joao Pedro more tempting. We aren’t so sure Chelsea would sell, especially at that price. Atletico are asking €100m for Alvarez – we don’t see the Blues selling JP for much less.
We can’t see Chelsea selling Joao Pedro this summer, no matter how seriously Barcelona want him.
These sporting directors have precious few transfer successes to point to from their years in charge, and the Brazilian is one of them.
While it would also reflect well on them to flip a player for good money in the space of a season, it’s better to have some quality on the field than just some more numbers on a balance sheet.
Unless JP really kicks off and tries to force a move, we don’t see him going anywhere.
The Guardian claim that Chelsea’s players have given Xabi Alonso the green light as the club’s new manager.
Interim manager Calum McFarlane will be in charge of the team tomorrow, and he responded to Pep Guardiola’s claims that Chelsea have an “advantage.”
