It’s fifth versus fourth in the Championship this weekend as Stoke City welcome Bristol City to the bet365 Stadium on Saturday afternoon for Matchday 13..
Stoke come into the game on a high after edging Portsmouth 1-0 away from home, a result that lifted Mark Robins’s side to 21 points and extended their strong run of form. The Potters have been solid at both ends of the pitch in recent weeks and will fancy their chances of keeping the pressure on the top four.
Bristol City, however, travel north in equally confident mood. Gerhard Struber’s men have now recorded back-to-back wins, most recently overcoming Birmingham City 1-0, and sit just a point ahead of their hosts in the table.
The Robins came out on top in this fixture last season, winning 2-0.
Angela Smith (Knot Media): Tchamadeu is available after his one game suspension and will probably be recalled as Stoke, 5th play 4th placed Bristol City.
Mark Robins doesn't change his team too much and some players are having to wait for suspension and injuries.
Stoke have lost one in six games beating Porstmouth 1-0 last week and will be looking for back to back wins.
It's a tough game to call but Stoke is becoming a tough place to get a result despite Bristol City being unbeaten away so far, I think Stoke will have just enough to get the three points
Prediction: 2-1
Ben Mead (Robins on Tour): Bristol City are back on the road on Saturday, as we look to make it four wins in a row, for the first time since September 2020.
We travel up to the Midlands, to take on Stoke City, who sit just a point behind the Robins, heading into November. After a disappointing couple of years for the Potters, however this season Mark Robins has bought a new lease of life to the Bet365 Season, and after a positive summer transfer window, Stoke City have equalled their best start to a season since 2001, over the first quarter of the campaign.
Bristol City, who currently sit 4th in the EFL Championship, have also had a very positive start to the season, and will look to continue their unbeaten start to the season on the road on Saturday. The red's are coming off the back of a 1-0 home win against Birmingham City last weekend, in what wasn't the best of games, but a brilliant win for Gerhard Struber's side, especially with the amount of injuries the Robins currently face.
Striker Emil Riis missed out on last weekend's win, due to injury. However, in the pre-match press conference, Struber stated that Emil Riis is "still on track" to feature on Saturday.
Bristol City will still be without, Max Bird, Jason Knight, Joe Williams, Harry Cornick, Cam Pring, and Luke McNally - who have all been out injuried for the first part of the season.
It'll be a tough test for Gerhard Struber and his side to go to Stoke and pick up all three points on Saturday, with the injury struggles and Stoke's brilliant start to the season. But, City's great away form, so far this season, isn't a coincidence and I'm sure the we'll be in for a great 90 minutes of football on Saturday, and hopefully the red's can bring all three points back down to the West Country.
