Last summer, Rafael Leão was on FC Bayern’s list for the left wing. A year later, he is apparently available at a bargain price
Rafael Leão is on the verge of leaving AC Milan. The Portuguese superstar made it public himself on Saturday evening that he considers his time with the Rossoneri to be over, meaning one of Europe’s most exciting attacking players could be on the market this summer
Speaking to sport tv from Portugal, the 26-year-old explained: „I’m proud to have made history at Milan, but I want to start a new chapter in my career. I feel ready to play in another league. I’ve given my best for Milan, but it’s time to move on to new challenges.“
This statement is a clear signal for Milan. Although Leão still has a contract until 2028, it seems difficult to imagine him staying after these words. The winger wants to take the next step – and could therefore also become interesting for FC Bayern again
Particularly explosive: according to the report, Milan have recently put a new price tag on the Portuguese. According to the report, Leão is already available for 50 million euros. That would be significantly less than the fixed exit clause, which is said to be 175 million euros
FC Bayern have already been linked with Leão in the past, with several media outlets unanimously reporting that the Munich club were specifically interested in the AC Milan attacking star last summer
It is obvious that the name could now become exciting again. The German record champions are still on the lookout for a left winger who can ideally also be deployed in the center of attack. Leão has precisely this profile
The 26-year-old prefers to play down the left flank, but can also create danger centrally with his pace and dynamism. His mix of explosiveness, dribbling ability and finishing quality would add an extra element to Bayern’s game
However, it remains to be seen whether Munich will actually get back on track, but one thing is clear: if Leão is available for €50 million, the market for the Portuguese is likely to pick up speed quickly
In addition to FC Bayern, there are other clubs who are interested in Leão. The efforts from Turkey have apparently been more concrete recently. Both Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are said to have been interested in the Milan star
However, Leão himself seems to be looking in a different direction. According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, the attacking player is toying with a move to Manchester United. A move to the Premier League would fit in with his statement that he wants to prove himself in another league
However, FC Bayern are still interested in the player, and with a price tag of €50 million, the Portuguese would also be much more realistic than in previous years.
