Wolves are preparing a busy Championship rebuild this summer as they push for an immediate return to the Premier League.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, they will work across fees, loans and free transfers, and have Sunderland’s Dan Neil in view. The midfielder is out of contract and has said he will not sign new terms.

Josh DaSilva, 27, helped Brentford go up but a serious knee injury last February has kept him out this season. Axel Tuanzebe earned promotion with Villa in 2019, later played for Napoli and Stoke, then helped Ipswich go up before signing a one-year deal at Burnley. He has shown he can rank among the Championship’s leading defenders.

At Burnley, former Reading and Stoke wide man Josh Laurent has featured in most of their Premier League matches and may fancy a change. Harry Winks, a 10-cap England international who joined Leicester for £10m in 2023, is out of contract as they drop to League One. After a bust up with fans, questions remain, yet he still looks Championship ready and, with Wolves likely to be among next season’s pace setters, he could have an impact.

Southampton striker Ross Stewart struck 40 in 80 across League One and the Championship before a £10m move, though injuries have hampered him. If Saints go up a new deal is possible, if not, a move may be easier for Wolves. Ex-Villa defender James Bree is also out of contract after a Charlton loan, and is now back aiding Southampton’s promotion push.
