PSG could be on the verge of securing Bournemouth defender Illya Zabarnyi after the reported back-and-forth conversations between the two clubs, as neither side was willing to concede on their stance.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently reported that Zabarnyi is keen on a move to PSG, with the French club preparing an improved offer.

Zabarnyi reached a verbal agreement with PSG back in June, and the club is expected to return to the table with Bournemouth soon. Despite some speculation, Romano clarified that there haven’t been any active talks with Tottenham at this stage.

Will PSG finally land Bournemouth standout?

According to BBC Sport’s Nizaar Kinsella, PSG and Bournemouth are making progress in negotiations for Zabarnyi. The two sides have agreed on a guaranteed €60 million fee, but discussions are ongoing over add-ons, with Bournemouth pushing for a total package closer to €70 million.

Meanwhile, the Premier League side has already started working on finding a replacement for the Ukrainian defender. CaughtOffside recently reported that Tottenham Hotspur have opened talks to sign Zabarnyi as a potential replacement for Cristian Romero.

Tottenham are said to be one of the few clubs willing to meet Bournemouth’s full asking price for the defender. Newcastle United are also keeping an eye on Zabarnyi as they search for a reliable partner for Sven Botman ahead of their Champions League return.

Chelsea have reportedly added him to their long-term center-back shortlist, while Liverpool are exploring him as a possible successor to Ibrahima Konaté, though they’ve yet to make a formal move.
