Kylian Mbappé and Paris Saint-Germain are in the middle of an ugly separation. The Frenchman left the French giants this past summer as a free agent to join Real Madrid, but the chapter between the two parties isn’t over.

PSG and Mbappé have been caught in a €55m legal dispute in recent months. The Professional Football League (LFP) and the French Football Federation (FFF) had earlier ruled that PSG must pay that amount to Mbappé for unpaid wages and bonuses.

The club had ten days, starting October 25, to submit a request for review to the FFF executive committee. However, they missed the deadline by a day, resulting in the FFF rejecting their request.

Now, PSG must either pay the €55 million to Mbappé or take the case to court, with the latter seeming the more likely option as they prepare to challenge their former striker and his advisors.

Despite the ongoing tension between the two sides, PSG president Nasser al-Khelaïfi spoke with Canal+ and addressed questions about Mbappé’s departure this summer.

“Am I disappointed with how it ended with Mbappé? I don’t want to talk about players who are not here with us today,” Al-Khelaïfi told the French media outlet (h/t Le10Sport). “I respect everyone. He left, I wish him the best, and the same for the others.

We are proud of the players we have, we have players who are among the best in the world, one of the best training centers, the best coach in the world, and the best football advisor. We just need time, that’s all.”
