Wednesday’s clash at Old Trafford will be the first time that Earps will play against Manchester United since she left for PSG in the summer of 2024.

There will be plenty of eyes on Earps, who has dominated the headlines since snippets of her new autobiography were first released.

Olga Carmona: PSG have a “great deal of confidence” in Mary Earps

Speaking to the media on Tuesday afternoon, PSG defender Olga Carmona said that the club have a “great deal of confidence” in Mary Earps, ahead of her return to Manchester United.

Carmona said Earps will be able to ignore any outside noise or pressure that comes her way on Wednesday night.

She added: “It’s a pleasure to play with Mary. I’m very lucky to be in the same team as her. It creates safety and security we all need at the back. I value her winning mentality.”

Her comments come after Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner praised Earps ahead of their reunion.

In his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, he added: “You have to pay credit to the quality she had and what she gave to us at that moment. She was part of the FA Cup-winning team. Mary and me have always had a good relationship, I’ll say nothing but good things.

In regard to her autobiography, Skinner added: “I’ve not read the book, I’m aware of it and seeing snippets of course I am. Mary believes in it that’s her truth and she has to speak it.”

Why does Earps face outside pressure ahead of her return to Old Trafford?

Earps will be determined to prove herself after comments from Skinner in the past that new Manchester United goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce is the best that he has worked with.

Back in May, Skinner said that Tullis-Joyce was “on a trajectory to be the best in the world”.

Tullis-Joyce took the No.1 spot at Manchester United after Earps’ departure. However, for England, Earps retired after Hannah Hampton took her spot.

In her autobiography “All In”, Earps criticised Hampton’s early “bad behaviour” in the England squad, and Sarina Wiegman’s decision to bring her back into the fold.

Earps’ comments in her autobiography have received a mixed response from former England stars, including Eni Aluko, Fara Williams and Anita Asante.

The 32-year-old has defended her book, insisting that it was “not about heroes and villains”.
