Paris Saint-Germain are considering a potential move for Union Berlin centre-back Diogo Leite in the summer transfer window, according to Foot Mercato.
While Bournemouth’s Illia Zabarnyi remains their top target, PSG are looking to add more defensive reinforcements.
Sporting director Luis Campos has added Leite to the wishlist after monitoring the fellow Portuguese’s progress in the Bundesliga.
The 26-year-old could leave this summer, having drawn interest from top clubs across Europe.
Berlin would look to cash in on the former Porto star, whose deal expires in 12 months. He is valued at €12 million.
Leite has become a key pillar in the German club’s defence since his move from Porto in 2022.
He has registered 111 appearances and played a pivotal role in Berlin’s Champions League qualification in the 2022/23 season.
Although Die Eisernan failed to achieve the same heights in the following seasons, Leite has maintained his consistency.
The Portuguese star’s underrated numbers place him among the best centre-backs in Europe.
He is left-footed, an excellent ball carrier and a colossus in the defence.
PSG have been focusing on top-class young talents and shrewd signings, a strategy which helped them build a dominant squad and win the treble last season.
Leite has been viewed as a potential backup for Willian Pacho, who has become an influential figure in PSG’s defence since his move from Eintracht Frankfurt last year.
Les Parisiens have agreed personal terms with Zabarnyi and are continuing their talks with the Cherries to secure a deal.
The Ukrainian centre-back would cost around €70 million.
