The January transfer window presents Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim with his first chance to shape the team according to his vision. However, the major moves are expected next summer, with Amorim reportedly eyeing a key Paris Saint-Germain player.
United’s summer signing of Manuel Ugarte from PSG has been a major success, with the midfielder thriving under Amorim’s leadership. Now, reports suggest the Portuguese manager is eager to reunite with Nuno Mendes, who he coached at Sporting Lisbon.
According to CaughtOffside, United is still strongly interested in the 22-year-old left-back, who is reportedly open to the idea after talks with his representatives. If Mendes doesn’t agree to a contract extension with PSG, the French club may consider offers in the region of €70 million when the summer window opens.

Foot Mercato’s Santi Aouna reports that Mendes has shown interest in joining Manchester United, but PSG doesn’t appear concerned, viewing it as a negotiating tactic. A new round of talks is expected to take place soon between PSG and Mendes’ entourage.
Journalist Ben Jacobs reported this week that Mendes has drawn significant interest ahead of the January transfer window, but his departure remains uncertain. Paris Saint-Germain is reluctant to let go of the 22-year-old talent mid-season.
Manchester United is reportedly monitoring Mendes, with three other Premier League clubs also inquiring about the Portuguese international.
While a January transfer is seen as difficult to finalize, the increasing interest from multiple clubs suggests the race for Mendes could intensify in the coming weeks.
