PSG had a rough start against Bayern Munich, falling behind twice to Luis Diaz in the first half. Their situation worsened when Achraf Hakimi went down after a tackle from Diaz.
Hakimi left the field in tears, unable to put weight on his left foot and needing help to walk off. Following a VAR review, Diaz received a straight red card, leaving Bayern Munich to play the second half with 10 men.
Even with the numerical advantage, PSG managed only one goal. The match ended 2-1 in favor of Bayern Munich at the Parc des Princes, handing Luis Enrique’s team a disappointing defeat.

While it’s not ideal to lose, the bigger situation after the loss is the latest regarding the injury to Hakimi. After the match, Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany spoke with the media and shared a message for Hakimi.
“The most important thing is we hope that [Achraf] Hakimi recovers quickly,” Kompany said. “It was hard work and emotions today – those are the feelings we had after the game. In the end, we did it together. We obviously would’ve liked to have kept playing in the second half like we’d done in the first, but you get games where things change through situations like the red card.
“I also want us to enjoy it when we have to defend. We work on it a lot in training. That’s why it didn’t surprise me that we did it well. The first half was really pleasing. In the second half we had to play differently. We know that the Champions League isn’t decided yet, but today was a really important three points for us.”
Meanwhile, Enrique also spoke about the incident and didn’t blame Diaz for the injury, citing it as a football play and the physicality of this sport.
“We have to wait until tomorrow after the tests to know about the players’ injuries,” Enrique said at his press conference (h/t RMC Sport). “For Ousmane, it has nothing to do with the previous one.
“But he played for the time you saw. Hakimi’s situation is part of football — it’s a contact sport. It’s unfortunate. It’s tough for the players. I remember, for example, Musiala’s injury. Tomorrow will be the day when the doctors provide updates.”
