As was the case last summer and the summer before that, Paris Saint-Germain won’t stand in the way of club captain Marquinhos (31) leaving the club at the end of the season, according to a report from L’Équipe.
Marquinhos still remains an important element of PSG’s defence and, in all competitions, he has played 26 games. Although he has started just eight times in Ligue 1, he is nonetheless an ever-present in the big games in the UEFA Champions League, starting 12 games in that competition. However, there has clearly been succession planning by bringing in Illia Zabarnyi last summer, even if the Ukrainian has yet to convince since joining from AFC Bournemouth.
Regardless, PSG won’t step in the way of an exit for Marquinhos. It will be up to the Brazilian to decide whether he wishes to have a new adventure, L’Équipe understands. Les Parisiens are already preparing for a potential exit by holding talks with potential replacements.
