Although AC Milan collected all three points in Slovakia on Tuesday night, Christian Pulisic admitted that the Rossoneri still have to improve.

As has so often been the case this season, with Milan needing a moment, they found one as a result of Pulisic, as the American slotted the ball past the goalkeeper after 20 minutes to give the visitors a much-needed lead after some early warning signs.

Despite his goal being cancelled out rather quickly, the attacker once again had quite a good midfield in a more central area, even if the Diavolo forced the majority of their chances down the flanks, and when Pulisic got onto the ball, there was an increased level of threat.

It is rare that we can say this too, but with the Rossoneri 3-1 up, Paulo Fonseca opted to give the 26-year-old a slight rest, replacing him with Ruben Loftus-Cheek for the final 15 minutes of the game. Not much, but enough to keep him ticking for now.

Following the win, the winger spoke to Milan TV, and his words were relayed by Milan News.

“It was a difficult match. We are happy for the three points which is the most important thing, but we had to play better. It’s not easy to play here, we took the lead, they had chances, we have to do better. We want to play better. Winning is important, but we have to improve.”

He also spoke to Sky, and once again, his words are available via Milan News.

A somewhat painful victory…

“The most important thing is that we won. But it is clear that we want to play a little better.”

Leao said we needed to score more goals. Mental talk or tactical talk?

“It’s everything. We have to score more goals and defend better, we have to improve.”

Did you come out as a precaution?

“Yes, I’m fine. I came out as a precaution.”

Do you like this role that Fonseca gives you?

“I like it. I always want to score goals and make assists; on the right, on the left, in the middle I don’t care. The important thing is to score goals and that we win.”

How far is it to see an AC Milan at its best?

“Difficult to say. We want to score more goals and be more focused to win every game.”
