Queens Park Rangers are looking to back French head coach Julien Stephan this summer with some key additions at Loftus Road, with interesting links to a former Leeds United and Rangers star having emerged.

QPR will have their eyes firmly set on a place in the Championship top eight next year after the expansion of the play-off places, but will face strong competition for those spots.

Stephan, now entering his second year at the helm at Loftus Road, has been backed with the additions of Boy Kemper, Pierce Charles, Calum Ward, and Tariq Lamptey so far, and they don't look to be done just there.

Midfield has been identified as an area in need of some strength and depth to add to the likes of Nicolas Madsen, Jonathan Varane, and Kieran Morgan, with the R's setting their sights on a player with Champions League pedigree.

According to the Daily Record, QPR are interested in former Rangers and Leeds midfielder Glen Kamara, with the 30-year-old having been identified as a potential target this summer.

Kamara came through the ranks at Arsenal before spells with Southend United, Colchester United, Dundee, Rangers, Leeds, Al-Shabab, and Stade Rennes.

The Fin has struggled for game time since moving to France, playing just 57 minutes across four league appearances last season, and looks certain for pastures new this summer, with QPR circling.

Football League World's QPR fan pundit, Louis Moir, has shared their thoughts on the club's links to Kamara, and whether he would be a welcome addition to the squad if they can get a deal over the line.

Louis said: "I think you'd be stupid not to be happy with Glen Kamara. I think we've obviously been crying out for some experience as well, and he would bring that in abundance really. Obviously, he's still only 30 as well, so it's not like he's getting to the point where you could class him as sort of too old or just a bit past it.

"He's had big, big experience. He was at Leeds, did well at Leeds, was quite a big part of when they did well in the Championship. He's played over 100 games for Rangers in Scotland, you know, another massive club. He's had that experience of playing in Europe. He's had loads of games for Finland on the international stage.

"I think if it was a permanent deal or a loan, I wouldn't be too fussed, but obviously he didn't play a lot of football at all last season, but I don't think that was down to injury; that was just not getting game time.

"But he's very, he's very good on the ball, and I think if we were to sign someone like that, I'd probably class that as, not compared directly to Lamptey, but it would be another sort of big signing because he comes with a bit of a reputation, and he's done well in his career. I just think if we were to get someone like that through the door, it doesn't just add quality, but it adds that experience as well.

"Would he start most games? Probably not, but he would sort of have a massive part. And I think if you were to just add someone like that into midfield, it's going to help the likes of Madsen flourish even more. Hopefully another midfielder comes in as well.

"We're really starting to add quality and depth, and that's what we've lacked in recent years. And you never know with injuries; if they were starting to potentially happen again, you should hopefully have more depth, and it may not be too much of a hindrance if we do get a few injuries to big players. But yeah, I'll be very much delighted with Glen Kamara. I think that'll be a top signing."

As Stephan looks towards the play-offs with QPR next season, the Frenchman has clearly identified midfield as an area in need of revamping this summer.

Alongside Kamara, Oxford United star Brian De Keersmaecker has also been targeted, with Blackburn Rovers also interested in a move for the Belgian.

Kamara's lack of minutes in recent years ought to be something of a red flag for QPR, though if they can get him fully fit and firing, he could be a game-changer in West London.
