NAC Breda left-back Boy Kemper is not a top target for QPR heading into the summer transfer window.

QPR have had a decent first season under Julien Stephan, but the boss will be aware a successful transfer window is needed if they are to kick-on in the 2026/27 campaign.

The R’s are one of several clubs who are locked in mid-table right now, so attention will already be turning to next season.

Stephan and the recruitment team will already be identifying players who can help the group, and it could be a busy summer for the Londoners as they look to wheel and deal given they don’t operate on the budget of some Championship clubs.

So, the challenge is to try and find potential bargains, and it had been claimed that QPR were keen on signing NAC Breda left-back Boy Kemper.

QPR’s transfer stance on deal for Boy Kemper revealed

Despite NAC Breda currently sitting in the relegation zone in the Eredivisie, skipper Kemper has enjoyed a good individual season.

He has caught the eye with his attacking output, registering three goals and the same number of assists for the struggling side.

With his contract expiring in a matter of months, it was reported that Kemper had been attracting interest from clubs in the Netherlands, as well as across Europe, which included QPR.

Yet, West London Sport have provided an update on QPR’s apparent pursuit, as they confirmed he is not a ‘top target’ for the club going into the summer window.

Interestingly, they do add that the R’s will be in the market for a left-back though, so it’s an area of the pitch that they are looking to address ahead of next season, which is news that QPR fans are likely to welcome.

QPR need to be smart with their summer recruitment

We know the importance of recruitment in the modern game, and there will be pressure on QPR to get things right as they look to back Stephan after a decent first year at the club.

As outlined above, they aren’t in a position to go and splash the cash like some of their Championship rivals, so it’s about finding gems.

Given his contract status, Kemper could’ve fallen into that category, and it makes sense that QPR are tracking players who will be available on a free this summer. Plus, it’s also a positive that they’re looking at the Eredivisie, as there is a lot of talent in the Dutch top flight.

But, it doesn’t appear that a move for Kemper will materialise, as QPR clearly feel there are better options out there going by this update.

Rhys Norrington-Davies has been first-choice left-back for most of the season, but he is due to return to Sheffield United this summer after his loan spell, and the fact QPR are keeping tabs on others in that role indicates he may not be returning to Loftus Road.

Even though the Welsh international has been steady, some supporters will be pleased to see that left-back is an area they want to strengthen, and it will be intriguing to see who they do bring in, and how the XI looks when they begin the new Championship season in August.
