With the final international break having just concluded for the fifteen or so Monaco players involved, Ligue 1 McDonald’s returns on Saturday with a trip to Rennes for the Rouge et Blanc (7pm). Mission accomplished! It was job done for Maghnes Akliouche and France as they qualified officially for the 2026 World Cup. After a very promising substitute appearance against Ukraine (4-0), the attacking midfielder, a product of the Academy, was given his first start for Les Bleus in the following match against Azerbaijan (1-3). This provided an opportunity for him to score his first international goal on this final day, thus contributing to France’s finishing in first place.
Back from injury and therefore rested during the break by the Nati, Denis Zakaria saw his compatriots emulate their French counterparts. Murat Yakın’s men got the job done, also securing their ticket to the World Cup in the Americas by finishing top of Group B in the European zone thanks to a victory against Sweden, among others. On the other hand, Denmark and Mika Biereth will have to go through the playoffs to hope to reach the event next summer.
They helped lead their teams during this international window. First of all, Aleksandr Golovin opened the scoring in a draw against Peru (1-1), scoring his eighth goal for his country. Before this Takumi Minamino, who had already scored against Brazil in October, did it again as he scored in win by Japan against a Ghana side featuring Mohammed Salisu (2-0).

He too is in top form under Mauricio Pochettino: Folarin Balogun scored his third goal in three games with the USMNT in the United States’ 2-1 victory over Paraguay. For his part, Caio Henrique was named in the starting lineup for Brazil in a friendly match against Tunisia and… Nacim Dendani, called up for the first time for the senior side. Finally, Lukáš Hradecký was back in competition with Finland.
He also took advantage of playing time during this November break to shine. Starting for the German U20 national team against Romania, Paris Brunner needed only one half to score a hat-trick that greatly contributed to his team’s 6-0 victory. He almost repeated this performance a few days later against Italy, managing a brace and an assist in the young Germans’ resounding 5-0 win.). Bravo les gars! 👏
