Former Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Rafa Mir has been jailed for eight and a half years in Spain for sexually assaulting two women and causing injury.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, a lower court in the Valencia region found Mir and another player had assaulted the women in 2024 at Mir’s home in the city, where he was then playing for the football club.
The court imposed seven years for sexual assault and a further 18 months for causing physical harm on Mir. The second player, identified in documents as Pablo J G, a lower-division footballer in Spain, received two and a half years.
Mir, 28, denied wrongdoing, saying the women consented to sex with him.
The court said the victim’s testimony was consistent and credible, supported by witnesses and forensic reports. The victim was awarded €64,000, with the ruling not final and open to appeal.
Mir joined Wolves in 2018 and stayed until 2021, making four appearances without scoring before moving to Sevilla after three loan spells. He played for Elche in La Liga last season on loan from Sevilla, and his Elche deal is due to expire at the end of this month.
