"The investigation stage was very positive. Now we are waiting for the indictment. This is a shame, but I am very calm. I really want to go to trial and my innocence will be proven. I am focusing on what is mine, on my work. The outside noise doesn’t affect me, I’m focused on me, on my life."
Marca states that the interview was given to Talks with Temo.
The Elche striker has denied any wrongdoing.
He was arrested in September 2024 after a complaint was filed, then released on bail after two days. He remains under investigation over an incident that took place two years ago.
Earlier this week the Prosecutor’s Office sought a 10.5-year prison term, nine years for the alleged aggravated sexual assault with carnal access and 18 months for alleged injuries.
Mir is also facing an allegation of racist abuse from last weekend’s La Liga match between Elche and Espanyol. It is claimed the 28-year-old aimed an anti-immigrant insult at a defender born in Catalonia to a Moroccan family.
La Liga have noted the allegation made by El Hilali and have opened an investigation. An outcome is expected in the coming weeks from their disciplinary department, which will determine whether Mir faces any sanction.
