Claudio Ranieri ended a post-match interview in a polemical tone, as he was once again asked to explain why Roma did not invest more in the January transfer market, prompting him to walk away.
The Giallorossi boss had already commented on the matter in the press conference which followed his side’s 1-0 win at Venezia, claiming that the club were forced to operate with constraints due to the Financial Fair Play, meaning their spending capacity was limited in order to avoid sanctions.

However, he lost patience and answered sarcastically when a journalist pressed him further, suggesting the team would have needed further reinforcements.
“I will tell the president to spend more money, take 3-4 years of suspension, that way we won’t go to Europe, we won’t go to the Champions League, and we’ll all be happy,” he told Radio Rai, as quoted by TMW, before abandoning the interview.

According to Calcio&Finanza, the Giallorossi spent €13.8m in permanent moves during the January transfer market, completing deals for goalkeeper Gianluigi Gollini, Devyne Rensch and Anass Salah-Eddine, in addition to a further €1.5m in loan deals for Lucas Gourna-Douath and Victor Nelsson.
