Rasmus Højlund’s arrival at Napoli has been characterized by a deliberate commitment to the club’s long-term vision. Speaking to TuttoNapoli, Luca Nigriello—a scout and member of the Sport Entertainment Group agency that represents the Danish international—provided insight into the striker’s mindset during the negotiations and his subsequent development under Antonio Conte.

Nigriello was adamant that the move to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona was not a secondary option for the former Manchester United man. Addressing the enthusiasm surrounding the deal, he stated:

“When we were closing the operation with Napoli there was great enthusiasm. Rasmus arrived from a complicated period at Manchester United, but he never experienced Napoli as a stop-gap (ripiego). He arrived with true hunger, with the desire to get back into the game. Character-wise he is strong, tough, he knows what he wants.”

Beyond his mental approach, the agency member highlighted the tactical evolution occurring in the 22-year-old’s game. He noted that Højlund is successfully diversifying his attacking profile:

“He is learning new things. He has always been a striker of depth, as seen at Atalanta. Now he is adding movements that are more typical of the penalty area, more like a central reference point, almost like Lukaku. Recent goals are different from his classic repertoire: if he also adds this opportunism, he becomes truly complete.”

Nigriello credited much of this growth to the manager, noting that the striker is thriving in a “chameleon-like” manner.

“Conte gives him confidence and is making him grow. Rasmus plays, makes mistakes, and learns. He has become hungrier, more consistent. He is a chameleon who adapts to what the team asks.”

The ex-Manchester United player scored a brace against Cremonese at the weekend. It took his tally for the season to nine in all competitions. Impressively enough, he has now contributed to seven goals in his last ten outings, making a real mark in Naples.
