Rayan says he makes a point of watching Vasco derbies from England, underlining his bond with the club that developed him. The Bournemouth forward spoke as the Rio side continue their rebuild in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
“I try to watch the games, but in England it is very late. When it is a clássico I make a point of watching. I still have friends there, like Robert Renan and Cauan Barros, and we still chat a lot.” He told TNT Sports.
Vasco are ninth with eleven points from eight matches, and have shown clear tactical improvement since Renato Gaúcho took charge. The international break was used to work on defensive issues.
No current player was called by Brazil this time, yet supporters felt represented by academy product Rayan, now at Bournemouth. He burst through in 2025 with Vasco, earning a big-money move to Europe.
“It is part of football, the sport should be more relaxed and more joyful. But it cannot cross the line, it has to stay where it is good for football. The fans like it, the players like it, you have to know how to provoke.”
