Bild reports that RB Leipzig have submitted their first bid for 1.FC Köln left-back Max Finkgräfe, as it looks for cover in the position.
The offer from Leipzig is said to be worth €4m, Sky Germany reports that a low to mid-range single-digit million fee should be enough for the 21-year-old. Finkgräfe’s contract at Effzeh expires in 2026, meaning this summer is the last chance that Köln can get a decent fee.
Hoffenheim were also interested in Finkgräfe, but the Krichgau club submitted an offer of €2m for the left-back and could not reach an agreement with Köln.
This will be Leipzig’s second signing of the summer after announcing midfielder Ezechiel Banzuzi from OH Leuven earlier this season.
Going off recent reports, it’s clear that Leipzig are heading in a new direction when it comes to recruitment. At the Red Bull Arena, they are beginning to focus on young German talents, after reports linked them to Max Rosenfelder, Nelson Weiper and Rocco Reitz.
