RB Leipzig have moved early to secure their goalkeeping options for the future. The club have extended Maarten Vandevoordt’s contract by a further year – the Belgian is now tied down until 2030. Péter Gulácsi has also extended his deal early, with his contract that was due to expire at the end of the season now running for another year until 2027. Leopold Zingerle will also remain a Red Bull, having signed a new contract until 2028.
That means Péter Gulácsi is set for his 12th season at RB Leipzig. The 35-year-old joined from Salzburg in 2015 and has since made 360 competitive appearances. He won the DFB-Pokal with the Red Bulls in 2022 and 2023.
Maarten Vandevoordt joined the Red Bulls from KRC Genk in 2024 and has made 15 appearances since then. In the current season, the 23-year-old has started every DFB-Pokal match. He is a regular in Belgium’s squad.
Leopold Zingerle is also staying at RB Leipzig. The 31-year-old has extended his contract until 2028. He will go into his fourth season with the Red Bulls this summer. Zingerle joined Leipzig from SC Paderborn in 2023.

Marcel Schäfer, managing director for sport:
“We’re delighted to have extended the contracts of all three of our goalkeepers. With Pete, Maarten and Leo, we’ve got enormous quality in this position and arguably one of the strongest trios in the Bundesliga.
You can always rely on Pete. In his 11th season with us, he’s once again shown himself to be a safe pair of hands, has demonstrated his class at domestic and international level for years, and can offer the team a huge amount with his experience.
We signed Maarten a few years ago with the clear view that the future belongs to him. He has outstanding attributes and has already proven his quality at a young age in almost 200 professional matches. In his appearances for RB Leipzig so far, he’s also shown what he can do and demonstrated that his style of play is a perfect fit for the football we want to play.
Leo complements the other two with consistently strong performances in training and also plays an important role in the dressing room. We’re very happy to be going into next season with all three of them. We have full faith in this set-up, both on and off the pitch.
Together with our goalkeeping coach Freddy Gößling, who has been doing an outstanding job for many years and is highly valued by both the goalkeepers and the entire coaching staff, we believe we’ve got a great set-up for this key role.”

Péter Gulácsi:
“I’m really happy that my journey with RB Leipzig is continuing. The club and the city are my second home and my family, so I had no doubt that I wanted to extend my contract here and go into my 12th year. We’ve already been on such a journey together and celebrated so much success in that time – and that’s exactly what I’m hoping for over the next year and a half as well.”

Maarten Vandevoordt:
“I’d like to thank RB Leipzig for the trust they’ve shown in me. I’ve already developed really well here and learned a lot, and I’m looking forward to showing that again in the future. The vision they shared with me for my future here really convinced me. I’m excited for the next few years and will give everything to achieve our goals.”

Leopold Zingerle:
“I’m very happy to have extended my contract and to remain part of RB Leipzig. I feel extremely at home at the club, within the team and especially in the goalkeeping group. I really value the atmosphere on and off the pitch and want to continue supporting the team as much as possible from my position.”
