FC Barcelona were able to advance to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League as they beat Borussia Dortmund 5-3 on aggregate in the quarter-final stage.
With this result, the Blaugranes remain the only Spanish side still competing for the UCL title, as Real Madrid were eliminated by Arsenal last night.
The Merengues suffered a 5-1 aggregate defeat in this tie, and once again lost 2-1 last night with goals from Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
However, the White club’s woes were not limited to the scoreboard, as Mundo Deportivo reports that their superstar forward Kylian Mbappe suffered a physical problem in this game, which puts him in doubt for the upcoming Copa del Rey final against Barcelona.
The French forward had to leave the pitch in the 75th minute as he suffered a sprain in the right ankle after a duel with the English midfielder Declan Rice. He made his way straight to the locker room after being substituted, and it was clear that he was having problems putting any weight on his right leg.
Although the problem does not appear serious, the forward is expected to undergo detailed tests on Friday to assess the degree of his suffering.
The Real Madrid star was already set to miss the upcoming league game against Athletic Club because of the red card that he was shown in the last match against Alaves.
However, this physical problem also puts him in doubt for the other upcoming matches, especially the away league match against Getafe on 23rd April and the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona on 26th April.
The French star had not been able to play at his best level in the last two El Clasicos, but still, it would be a positive development for the Blaugranes if he is not able to play against them as he still remains a highly dangerous forward who can turn a game around with his individual performance.
