Real Madrid are set to part ways with talented academy product Nico Paz, who will become a fully fledged Como player this sumer. The Argentina international has been linked with a return to Los Blancos this summer, but it seems that he was keen to continue in Serie A.
Amid reports that Real Madrid had activated their €9m buyback option on Paz this summer, there was talk that he could be sold on at a profit this summer. As explained by Diario AS, this was impossible due to La Liga regulations, but Real Madrid did offer Como the chance to buy the remaining 50% of his rights this summer. It seems that Cesc Fabregas’ side have decided to take them up on that offer.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid have agreed a deal for Paz to remain at Como, although he notes that Los Blancos will have control over his future. Sky Sport Italia (via Football Italia) say that the deal offered to Como to retain all of Paz’s rights was worth €60m, which corresponds to AS’ reporting, and that the Serie A side have taken them up on that option. Paz’s desire to remain at Como was key, despite interest from the likes of Inter. Real Madrid will still have an €80m buyback option on Paz, meaning they can bring him back in the future.
