The brass at La Liga giants Real Madrid have made clear that they would be more than open to parting with one or more of the club’s defensive stars before the summer is out.
That’s according to The Athletic, who point towards Ferland Mendy and David Alaba as the leading candidates.
Both Mendy and Alaba of course find themselves in precarious situations in Spain’s capital at present.
This comes with the respective summer arrivals of Álvaro Carreras and Dean Huijsen having seen both stoppers tumble down the pecking order in Xabi Alonso’s squad.
With both also continuing to struggle for fitness, it should in turn come as little surprise to learn of Real Madrid opening the door to the sale of Mendy and Alaba alike.
As per a report from The Athletic:
‘People at the club are keen to see David Alaba or Ferland Mendy leave.’ It is also noted, however, that Los Blancos ‘are pessimistic about their chances of offloading them’.
