Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho recently touched base with Vinícius Jr, to make his stance regarding the attacker’s place in his plans known. This of course comes amid mounting speculation linking Vinícius with a move away from Spain’s capital.

The last week has seen reports build across the European media, regarding interest in the signature of the 26-year-old on the part of English champions Arsenal.

Ahead of the expiration of Vinícius’ contract terms at the Bernabéu in 12 months’ time, Mikel Arteta and co. are understood to have identified the Brazilian as a market opportunity too good to turn down.

Arsenal, in turn, are mounting an all-out assault on Viní’s signature.

As of yet, it is somewhat unclear how the player himself feels about the situation, ahead of a crunch upcoming round of talks with the Real Madrid board regarding his contract situation.

But as alluded to above, one individual in no two minds when it comes to Vinícius’ future in La Liga is new boss, José Mourinho.

As revealed by The Athletic this weekend:

‘Manager Jose Mourinho likes the player and has been in touch with him (to let him know as much). It is also noted, though, that the Portuguese ‘will understand any decision taken by the club’.
